Planning Tool for Developing a System for Thriving and Learning

SoLD Alliance Governing Partner American Institutes for Research (AIR) has released a new tool, Science of Learning and Development Alliance Design Principles for Schools Planning Tool for Developing a System for Thriving and Learning, to guide how to explore what is necessary to realize equitable, whole-child design.

The Planning Tool is designed to help users reflect, invest, and reallocate resources to create equitable, transformative learning environments— environments that will fully support young people in achieving their full potential as they expand their knowledge, formulate their own identities, and build agency over themselves and their learning experiences.

Built from the Guiding Principles for Equitable Whole Child Design, the tool can help apply the best knowledge about how students learn and thrive to create equitable, transformative learning environments within their unique contexts while avoiding the pitfalls of fragmented, incoherent, inappropriate, incomplete, or watered-down efforts. The tool can help users think about, discuss, and codify perceptions and/or data regarding existing needs and assets and how they relate to proposals aimed at improving or transforming environments for learning and development.
